Appeal to H.E. Madut Biar, the governor of NBGS.

Subject: Shops in Aweil Town Marketplace.

Your Excellency,

It has come into my attention that all newly purchased shops from Aweil town Council in Aweil main marketplace, including my shops no 7/8 had been cancelled by a state decree from your esteemed council of ministers

Sir, the news fell on us like a striking knife into our flesh, especially from the government of high hope like yours. We thought, as Aweilians, our people in Aweil would appreciate such a step, and welcome us to invest in our own town. However, some of those shops were making final touches in construction, and some were in starting process

Thus, the SPLA defeated the enemy and forced it to withdraw its troops northwards. But, our economics and market places need different kind of liberation. The same person you have defeated militarily in the field is still controlling our economy and business. How are you going to get rid of him in the marketplace? Are you going to use violent against him? Definately not sir! It will be a bizarre!

                                       Aweil Main Market

The only option to my humble understanding is by creating a policy, which is to be based on encouragement, adoration and embracement of indigenous business and not by frustrating everybody as you did! As citizens of NBGS, I would humbly urge your esteemed office to reverse your decision and allow those shops owners to finish construction. Hence, those shops while operating, I believed, were going to serve as seeds of encouragement to the indigenous to setup business. Do you know how many families could have depended on those shops? Do you know how many employees could have been employed by those shops? Those shops to my humble knowledge could have created employment to those vulnerable citizens, who’re striving to get employment.

Furthermore, such attempted investment, would have encouraged whoever wanted to invest and it could have raised morals too. If citizens started to know that you are against their interest and personal expectations, they may get dismay, refrain, or shrink from investment. The best solution Sir is by reversing you decision before it is too late. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Yours truly,

Kuc Majok Majak
